Wow, had the soup and sandwich and never disappoint. Today I had the Roasted Red Pepper (with Chicken Parmesan) and the Zorn on Sourdough with their Horsey. Great combo , hit the spot.

Another favorite is The Big Dirty.

    Great place for lunch.

Always tickled when Crave comes over to the east end, by our work. Everything is delicious. Today I got the grilled cheese with bacon, tomato gouda soup and pasta. I dunk my sandwich in the soup. it's the best.

I love cafe and deli food, but I get really tired of the same old Panera and McAlisters soups and sandwiches. I had a free delivery from Door Dash so I ordered Crave for lunch when I was home sick. I got a Pick 2 with a Joe's Special (chicken, Swiss, bacon, honey mustard on ciabatta bread) and loaded potato soup. The sandwich was a decent size for a half sandwich and I also liked that the honey mustard came on the side so I could control the amount of sauce on the sandwich. The grilled chicken was awesome, it was thinly sliced and well-seasoned and even had a little kick to it. It also came with chips that were really crispy kettle cooked potato chips. The potato soup was the highlight for me though. It was so creamy with a good potato ratio and a little bit of cheese and bacon mixed in. It's the best potato soup I've had in a long time. I can't believe I've lived within a mile of this place for three years and never tried it! I can't really speak to the atmosphere or service since I haven't dined in, but I'm already sold on the food!

This is a great lunch cafe with great Tomato Gorgonzola soup. Leave space for their temptimg desserts.

This is 1 of my favorite places on Frankfort Avenue. I had the Derby salad with added grilled chicken and Betty had half of tuna sandwich, chips, and tomato dill soup. As always, service and food were great. Menu items are named after local areas. We were able to enjoy lunch outside on the side patio today. They have a food truck and also cater.

The sweetie pie chicken salad was yummy, and they gave great service!

Stopped by a bit ago at the food truck downtown in Chestnut today. i got the grilled chicken Go Go sandwich. It was delicious a little spicey but very good. The bacon was cooked perfectly, the cibatta bub was toasted to perfection and the grilled chicken was juicy and tender. A great lunch that was tasty and filling. Thanks!

I had the Crave food truck today and it was AMAZING!!! I'll definitely be back a bunch!! I have only one complaint, you never announce where the truck will be. Would be great if you could post it on Facebook or your website, then we can find you! Blackened chicken sandwich is amazing!!

I have had food from the Crave a GoGo truck three times. Each time they come to my work I have to at least get their pasta salad, it's simply amazing. It has bowtie pasta swimming in (what I think) a ranch style dressing with broccoli, cheese cubes, and red pepper. The first two times I ate their food I got the crave wrap. It's really good.

Today I had SOB (South of the border) wrap. OMG it blew my taste buds away. This wrap is simply the best wrap I have ever eaten. It has grilled chicken, spicy ranch, jack cheddar cheese, red onion, red bell pepper, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and tortilla strips in a tomato wrap. OMG!

I'm looking forward to when they come back!

Great food! Fun atmosphere, and great service!

Overstuffed sandwiches, savory soups, and more-than-reasonable prices.

This is my go-to sandwich shop. I've tried just about every sandwich and every soup on the menu and I've never been disappointed. Every sandwich is made to order with fresh meats and veggies. Each day is a new selection of home made soups. And while I've always been to full to try their desserts, they look wonderful. Tip of the day: they have a roomy parking lot in the back! If you know Frankfort Avenue you know how nice it is to find convenient parking.

  • *****

Love their food. The South of the Border wrap is to die for!!!!

This place has the best soups and sandwiches in Louisville. The staff is very friendly and the food is amazing. The only difficulty was finding a parking spot on Frankfurt. But they have some parking in the back!!

The truck came to my work today. I got the Cravin Cheesy & added bacon. Yum!!
Also the potato salad is very good.

Crave did an outstanding job catering my daughter's wedding last Saturday night. Everyone loved the food, especially the "cheesy potatoes." Thanks from the Ariel Family and the Elliott Family!

    Great lunch spot.

Visited with some friends on a Saturday for lunch and was surprised there weren't more people there based upon the high rating. The weather was great, so the four of us decided to sit outside.

My buddy went with the Big Dirty ($9) and loved it. His wife selected Don't Do Me Wrong Reuben ($9) and said she enjoyed it but the bread was a little burnt. I ordered Joe's Special ($9) and it was fantastic - the portion size was really generous. My wife ordered the Sweetie Pie Chicken salad ($7) and was pleased.

Service was fast (there wasn't much of a crowd).

Overall a great deli option for lunch in the area - one which I will be sure to visit again.

I have not eaten at the physical location, but I ordered food from their food truck at Nulu Fest. The food was AMAZING, decently priced, and smelled heavenly. The staff was super helpful and really worked to make sure we were happy with our order.

Amazing sandwiches, delicious soups, decadent desserts and friendly service. Can't ask for more!

Crave cafe is delicious! Move over Panera because crave might be taking your spot as my favorite soup and sandwich spot. Im not sure how I have never noticed this place since it has been around since 2007 but I am glad that I did. This place is Local, Unique, and Awesome- not to mention owned by a woman and I can't help but being a little bias because I'm all about supporting a woman running her own show!

I got carryout for two and ordered more than we could eat because I was eager to try so many things. The Egg salad sandwich was my favorite- simply perfect. Next to try was the "Bam I'm good" sandwich which was a warm Creole grilled chicken and avocado sandwich complete with baby swiss on ciabatta bread. Delicious! The flavors blended together so well. We also got a salad which had perfectly cooked bacon on it and lots of hard boiled egg which made me quite happy. The peanut butter brownie in the picture i shared looked even cuter on display next to the other adorably delicious desserts and it tasted wonderful as well.

Very friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating and no trouble parking for me. Eat local, eat here, at the Crave Cafe!

Nice place with some great food and service. I had The Hottie, The Crave house salad and the hummingbird dessert. All were delicious.

  • *****

delicious soups, salads, sandwiches, with just the right subtle hippy vibe without being over-patchouli'd. I'd definitely come back.

I imagine there are many of you out there reading reviews as I often do when I'm hungry and looking for something good. I am just hoping you read this post along with the others or you will be sadly missing out. Those out there comparing Crave to Panera are absolutely mental. There is not one thing remotely comparable between the two. Panera is commercial fast food, similar to McDonalds in my book. Crave is a unique cafe serving fresh homemade offerings with crisp great flavors. I have tried multiple soups, most recently the chicken (enchilada, maybe) soup which was cheesy yummy goodness. I call daily awaiting the loaded potatoe and broccoli and cheese soups which I could eat daily. Every time I see crave on groupons I buy as many as it will allow because I adore this place. The other day I had the "Mellwood" which is basically a BLT, and I say that lightly since there was no less than a pound of bacon on the sandwich. And to those of you claiming it is pricey, I mean seriously have you had the food. One sandwich is two meals or can he shared and are still close to the same price as subway, and come on, there is no comparison in taste. If you have yet to try crave then wait no longer, go TODAY, however I make this post hesitantly since many days they run out of soups I want and I often wish so many others were not aware of the deliciousness of Crave thus leaving more for me!!!!! Love Crave

Good-quality friendly soup, salad and sandwich place; some of their offerings feature local faves benedictine and pimento cheeses.

Stopped for a quick lunch at this tiny little place. Staff is super and the food is great but a little over priced. We will definitely be back.

  • *****

Love this little cafe. The sandwiches are HUGE and delicious, lots of good side options as well. I always get Derby/Oaks box lunches here because they are a little cheaper than other places and the food is simple and delicious. There is counter service here and not much seating so I normally take my lunch to go. This is my go to place for a good sandwich.

  • *****

Only went here due to a Groupon, now I have a reliable place for lunch or soup and sandwich anytime. We tried the Kentucky Cobb Club sandwich and Kentucky Girl wrap. Ky Club was like a BLT on steroids, great flavor and very filling. Wrap was good also but not as good as the Club in my opinion. They have 3 soups of the day as well as sides that change daily. Tried two soups and they were very good, I imagine the other one was also good. Sides we tried, deviled eggs(one of the best I have had) and waldorf salad(rich and flavorful also). I see this place doing much better once everyone knows they are there. Quick and good lunch spot for a reasonable price. Not as heavy as Panera, light and refreshing lunch items

  • *****

Took the son to lunch here one afternoon after an outside school function. He doesn't usually like soup and sandwiches but he is a nice kid and knew I really wanted to go so he agreed. He got the KY Club and almost wouldn't give me a bite when I asked for one - that is how much he liked it! I got the basil tomato soup and the Beefer. He ate half of my soup (surprise!!) and liked my sandwich too. I really want to go back because I want to try other soup of the day and a few of the sandwiches that I had my eye on.

  • *****

I LOvE my potato soups but I by no means have a problem saying they have even better potato soup. Today we have tried their tomato soup. It is much better than another local place that specializes in tomato soup. Definitely has flavor and seasoning. The bacon ranch potato salad is good too. So we have tried the Kentucky cobb club, big bubba, joes special, red whit and blue, blt dip, pimp my cheese, among other things (not all in one day). None of these items were bad. This is the type of place u can revisit multiple times to try something new everytime and be happy.

I have to give rave reviews to Crave. It was already one of my favorite places to eat in Louisville but even moreso after last weekend. We were a large group, five adults and six kids from 2-17. The staff was very accomodating taking time to make sure everyone had all they needed. Did I mention the kids ate free? All the kids had grilled turkey or grilled ham and cheese and chips with a capri sun and a cookie. The food was excellent but I will go back many more times and highly recommend this place to everyone mainly because of the excellent customer service there. I always have the big bubba, it is the best.

So I kinda have this thing for wanting to support local businesses in the city. I especially excel at supporting local food places. But when it comes to catering for work, for a group of 50 people I've never met, from a company I've never heard of, I felt understandably nervous when I took a chance and ordered from Crave. I really relied heavily on the power of Yelp for this recommendation.

I'll spare you the details and summarize my experience: It was perfect.

...just kiddin', I love the details!

The food was more than on time, and the gentleman that brought it was not at all bothered by the rain that was coming down when he dropped it off. Each box was labeled and packaged perfectly so we could easily separate out the sandwiches. That being said - we ordered 5 separate types of sandwiches, a few special order sandwiches for allergies, and several of their salads (THAT IS THE WAY TO GO BY THE WAY, they are ENORMOUS! I'll definitely be headed over there for more salads by myself) And I was thrilled that they didn't get any of them wrong! The ONLY thing they messed up on was that they added a few extra cookies to the boxes. Clearly no one is going to have a problem with that. And if they did, I was more than happy to relieve them of their cookie.

The lady that took my order was extremely pleasant plus she waived a few additional fees so that we could keep the costs within my budget. She was more than happy to work with us and I can only imagine she would take the same care when putting together your orders. The food was demolished by the students, teachers, and staff (including senior staff), so I think it is safe to say it was a hit. Also, if you're wondering, the food was at least as cheap as most chain catering places, and had a homemade flair.

Thanks Yelp, for making my senior staff happy. That makes me happy.

Crave has never let me down. One of the best little soup and sandwich shops in Louisville. I love their "soup of the day" selections because it shows creativity and variety. I never know what I'm going to eat until I get there since I almost always choose a soup. Today I had their tomato dill and it is the bomb. Give them a try, you won't regret it.

Best soup in town. Everything is delightful. We order for delivery for work meetings and the Derby lunch boxes are excellent.

  • *****

Great little place for sandwich, soups and salads. Not too expensive. The Lexington sandwich was good. Lots of meat. Pasta salad is delicious. They also have a little variety of deserts. Great for to go. Staff is friendly. Has outdoor setting.

  • *****

Best place I've eaten at in a long time, loved the employees and loved the feel of the environment definitely would have to give them a 5 star rating definitely coming back for more, everything I get from here is never a disappointment

  • *****

This is my new favorite spot to hit on a weekly basis. Everything I have had here is so good. They make these great soups that change daily and the club is so good. They have really good salads too. They also have a little variety of deserts do your self a favor and get the hummingbird cupcake if they have it. Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is great. You can also always grab it to go. Love C Rave. Parking can suck depending on time of day but I've always found a spot relatively close and I've been more than a few times now.

This little hole-in-the-wall is a whole lot of restaurant! The sandwiches are large and delicious. The homemade soups are unique and tasty. The people are helpful and friendly. And the prices are more than reasonable. It's not fancy, but who cares? This may be Louisville's best sandwich shop.

  • *****

Huge sandwiches that are delicious. I've tried some of their soups as well and they are all great and homemade. Smaller location with wifi. Can be noisy if filled up. Fast and convenient where you order at the counter and then they deliver it to your table. A huge sandwich (definitely shareable) with chips runs $7 to $8.

Crave Cafe is a bit of a mishmash. It's down-home, comfort food with a deli flair, and the decor is a mix of country and urban, with large spray painted canvases that spell out "Crave" on the wall.

But this all comes together to create a satisfying lunch experience.

On my most recent trip I tried "The Clifton," a sandwich with mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes on ciabatta bread, along with a chicken soup with a curry kick to it.

The bread was soft, and the sandwich wasn't flooded in pesto -- a problem at some other sandwich shops. And I really dug the soup, a special for that day. It was spicy, and on a rainy day, made me feel all warm and cozy inside.

And at $6.95 for the "pick two" of half a sandwich and cup of soup, the price can't be beat.

The employees were also super friendly and helpful. I was offered a taste of the soup when I was trying to decide what to get.

Next time I'm looking for lunch options along Frankfort Avenue, this stop will definitely come to mind.

I eat at Crave occasionally, but this year and last I ordered boxes for Oaks. Last year I was running late and stressed and called the restaurant to see if they could toss something together that I'd be able to eat in the car on my way home since I'd be jamming to get ready once I got there. I showed up to four PERFECT box lunches and a Kentucky Girl that was super easy to eat while shifting gears and speeding back to Indiana. My experience was so great I decided to use them again this year.
Wednesday I called to place my order. My mind was in 100 places so I changed my mind a couple times then asked if he could put something together for us to eat beforehand because he had done that last year and then I hear "I remember you, we made you a Kentucky Girl!" What in the actual?!....this guy is amazing!!!!
It was a full year since I showed my face and he remembered what he made me?!?!?!
One of my friends picked up our order this year and everything was completely perfect. I can guarantee they will always have my Derby business and will no long be an "occasional" stop on my restaurant route. They have awesome food and exceptional service. In the past I haven't frequented them as much because I live in Indiana, but that's about to change.
Do yourself a favor and sign on to what they're serving!

Today, the Crave food truck was here on-site where I work in downtown Louisville. So, I decided to give them a try for lunch and I'm so glad that I did! The service was great, the wait was short, and the food was AMAZING! I paid only $8.00 for the Pick 2 Combo, which consisted of the Go-Go sandwich and a bowl of chili. I definitely feel as though the price was very reasonable for the amount of food that I received. And of course now I can't wait until they come back :)

I absolutely love this place. I visited for the first time Tuesday evening. I experienced some of the best customer service ever. Since it was my first time, the nice gentleman (sorry I forgot his name) went through the entire menu with me and gave me some great options. I decided on the half soup (creamy chicken and asparagus) half sandwich (KY Cobb). It was so delicious! I'm on my way back there today since it's chilly and they have great soup options. I'm officially hooked lol.

  • *****

What a great place for lunch! Their soup was delicious--I got the Thai chicken noodle. It wasn't too pricey either. I'll definitely be back.

Crave is excellent for both catering, and as a quick lunch spot. Bonus to ample outdoor seating in the nice weather!

I had eaten at Crave in the past when they had catered a luncheon that I attended. The memory of their savory flavors always stayed with me, and it was on my list of places to check out "in person" (read: at their brick-and-mortar location) at some point. Well, today -- beautiful weather and all -- was that day.

A friend and I had some free time at lunch and decided to check the joint out. After popping inside to order (note: enter at the side door, not the front, as I attempted to and failed miserably, to the amusement of diners indoors), we took a seat outside on the side walk near Frankfort Ave. Several very short minutes later, our salads were delivered. We had deliberated on what to order, but both went with the recommendation of the employee there and chose Kentucky Cobb salads.

A bed of fresh lettuce was covered with rows of bleu cheese, sliced turkey, avocado, tomato, and eggs. Each bite was full of crunch from the lettuce and flavor from the various toppings. The portion size was generous for the cost ( less than $8 including tax), and we left full and happy.

Crave is a great place to add to your list of places to try, especially with the possibility of outdoor dining this beautiful time of year!

A great little local deli. They have a large selection of custom sandwiches, soups, and salads. It was a great local place for lunch.

  • *****

Wonderful place to grab lunch generous portions friendly staff and clean dining area... not to pricy and quick I love this place and recommend it to anyone wanting a good lunch

  • *****

Good little neighborhood joint for comfort food.

  • *****

Excellent spot for a quick lunch. Very very impressed. The Ruben is likely the best I have ever had in my life. I will be recommending them for our next business luncheon.

  • *****

Soup is amazing and the people that work there are super nice.

  • *****

Amazing!!! Easily the best sandwich shop in town! The Red Pepper Parmesan Soup is mind blowing!!! I would eat here every day, if I lived closer. Definitely taking friends here often!

  • *****

Delicious sandwiches, although a little pricey - a mozzarella, basil & pesto panini was $8.25, and it was on the small side, though it came with some delicious kettle chips. The sides are delicious and not to be missed - blue cheese slaw, deviled eggs, and a sun-dried tomato & pasta salad were offered the last time I was there. The service was very slow for a deli - it took around 20 minutes for us to get our food, and we were one of 4 tables - but also very friendly.
